Inside a Super Rich Gated Community (Extreme Wealth Documentary) | Real Stories

It’s the new housing trend. Entire private neighbourhoods – sometimes spanning several hundreds of hectares and complete with luxury facilities, private schools and shops – all under extreme security and banned to non-residents.

In gated communities like MacDonald Highlands, residents can dine at private restaurants, play a game of tennis or enjoy a round of golf. They have their own personal trainers permanently on-call. But life here isn’t cheap. Just the obligatory gym and club memberships come to over $700 a month. And, in addition to the high maintenance charges, residents are expected to adopt a certain lifestyle and comply with strict regulations. At MacDonald Highlands, among the many rules, it is forbidden for children under 14 to walk around alone. Also banned is the use of skateboards and scooters and making noise after 10pm. Offences like not taking down Christmas lights within the required period or having a less-than-immaculate garden are all punished with a fine.

It used to be that these gated communities were home only to super-rich Americans but now they’re appearing across the globe and are shaping new residences of the future. Over in Marseille, security-conscious real estate owners have petitioned the City Council to erect barriers and close off entire neighborhoods. The first gated community has opened in Sofia, Bulgaria.

But as more and more people take refuge behind walls, will the remaining public space be turned into a giant ghetto?

  • The security at the entrance is why I’d live in this type of community! I have so many weirdos coming on to my street (at night) doing weird things. I hate it 😂

  • To each his own but If I’m paying millions of dollars on my home even half a mill I’m not going to be living amongst all them rules. I’m team buy my land and build my home away from a subdivision. I can blast my music as loud as I want and there are no time restrictions. This is insane lmao

  • I like the way the husbands in such places are always quiet and mostly have nothing to say😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

  • Who needs this ridiculous amount of space? For 2 people with no children, this defies reason and logic.

  • I refuse to live anywhere with a HOA. I’m not paying anyone for the privilege to tell me what I can and can’t do with my own property.

    • Have you lived in HOA and had bad experience? My first home in US is HOA. None of the restrictions bother me… like lawn has to be mowed everywhere which NON HOA houses should do too. No playing very loud music after 10 pm, which non HOA home shouldn’t do or may be put the headphones on, not having fence in front, which I am okay with because with front yard fence it feels like I am entering penitentiary and not home. All of the homes doing same thing in the area makes it looking pleasing to eyes. Personally in our surrounding area NON HOA homes are pretty well maintained too but only thing I feel it takes is just one bad neighbor.

    • @@MicrosoftFlightSimulator-2020The people who say they don’t want anyone to tell them what to do are the ones who are the problem and who those with means are trying to get away from.

    • @@lvega5606 I read this as “I’m a grown man/woman that loves being told what to do by other grown men/women” Not wanting to pay millions for your own property with weird rules doesn’t mean you’re a problem

  • I predicted this would come to pass several years ago, as residential crime continues to increase and get more out of control each day.People with means are looking for a more secure place to live.We will continue to see more and more of these very high end secure communities being built as time move forward. thanks

    • have you also thought about your need for Jesus, in order for your sins to be forgiven? have you thought about your eternity?

    • @user-mn4dq6pv6g  Don’t be so righteous: when You Become a Victim of Crime ( and I PRAY YOU DON’T) You may see Jesus REAL QUICK 🙏. Read the Bible, NOTHING WRONG WITH PROTECTION OF SELF and PROPERTY.

    • @@alexandrak.7644 As I apreciate your reply and agree, it really does not matter who you vote for they are all idiots

  • I agree with them! At least in a gated community, when you go on vacation, you don’t have to worry about squatters invading your property and refusing to leave your home!

    • We’ve never worried about that. We have neighbors 1/4 mile away that look after our chickens and dogs while we’re on vacation. We also have a few security cameras that alert us to anyone on our property and if there’s any issues, we call the neighbors. And they’re really good hunters. 😉

    • Watching this, I went from thinking how discriminatory a gated community is, to understanding that they just don’t want to worry about their home. Makes so much sense, right? Good for them…she is adorable and I hope she gets it all baby.

  • I lived in a high end community like this for about 10 years. The rules/HOA, lack of friendly neighbors (because they were too busy working, traveling), got old. We left and live on 20 acres in the country on a home we built ourselves. I can even walk outside nude and no one will see me. That’s what you call freedom.

  • im from a very working class family. wanna say i am sooo annoyed watching the part about rules within the community. its upsetting and frustrating to have someone tell you when you can or can’t hang your christmas lights around the house. absurd. it seems they dont completely own their property

  • I LOVE my small mountain cabin nestled near waterfalls with moutain lions, bears, peace, no horns, no traffic, no unsightly views of buildings. It’s paradise

  • My in-laws lived in an upscale 50+ gated community where truly there was no “community”. Too many HOA rules for me. I mean, ridiculous amounts of rules ! I told my husband I think there’s less rules in prison.
Every house looked the same, no cars allowed parked in the driveway, you had to have exactly 13 APPROVED plants in your front yard … etc etc. I had once thought of moving to one of these. Nope. I changed my mind. I now have 5 acres, and can grow anything in my yards, not spray for dandelions and pretty much do what we want. No rules.

  • I live in Vegas and have been into that community. Vegas is notorious for gated communities. Its a very transient town with lots of sketchy people coming through. Even lower priced communities are gated. Its the norm here and not a big deal that this documentary makes it out to be.

    • Yes and no. Its not a big deal until you realize it does keep the crime stats down. I have heard there was short spike in burglars and thieves sneaking through the gates, or posing as cleaning crews to get in, but lately that seems to have been quelched.

  • It’s a sign of the times we are living in . Personally I am waiting to live in a world where we will live in a peaceful new world for free my dear God has promised me . I will be there living in peace and security

    • You hear a lot about how someone started a company or how someone almost lost everything but all are interesting to listen to.

  • When I was young my boss told me he only makes friends with people who add value to his life.

I completely understand why wealthy people don’t mix with people who aren’t.

It’s not because they’re snobs, it’s because success comes from business networking, and who better to mix with than other successful people.

    • Just recently made the same conclusion trying to monitor with whom I communicate.

  • After watching this I was overwhelmed with gratitude for what I have. I live in a pristine village in comfort and utter freedom. I gaze across the ocean to the snow topped mountains and Thank God for placing me there.

  • Excellent video as always but here is my problem I have been making losses trying to make profit trading. I thought trading demo account is just like trading the real market… can anyone help me out or at least advise me on what to do

    • Most people think, investing in crypto is all about buying coins and leaving it to rise, come on it takes much analysis to be a successful crypto trader.

    • Trading is easy, but trading the right coin without a time-tested strategy is incredibly hard.

    • My advice, never do shorts or longs on stocks or #crypto
most people went bankrupt better buying in parts monthly

    • You’re right! I have lost a lot trading all by myself without a guide. It’s been an uneasy ride for me. Who is your mentor please. how can i reach her i really need help in this bear market now?

  • I’m 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can’t seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.

    • I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I’m ready for whatever comes…

    • @@SantiagoWyatt- That’s actually quite impressive, I could use some Info on your FA, I am looking to make a change on my finances this year as well

    • @@SantiagoWyatt- The crazy part is that those advisors are probably outperforming the market and raising good returns but some are charging fees over fees that drain your portfolio. Is this the case with yours too?
